The Kit SwapAn established part of the Scottish National Scale Model Show now, the Kit Swap's initial intention was to help fellow modellers recycle some of their once-loved kits into cash again in a central area, set aside for the purpose, so that potential purchasers, would know where to seek out the cheaper (usually) and sometimes rarer items, and secondly the aisles of the Model Show would not be cluttered with assorted boxes full of second hand kits, more important in the days of smaller venues. The way the "Swappy" runs is that £1 is taken from each person putting in up to a maximum of 20 items per day and a further 10% of what is actually sold is taken from the final tally. This goes towards the running of the show. We cannot accommodate Traders within the swaproom. What can also be arranged are bids and exchanges, hence the name swaproom, if you have an eye on a particular item but would like to negotiate with the kits owner either for less money or offer a trade from items you may have, then again, within reason, we can endeavor to arrange this, all you have to do is ask! If you do wish to put items in, a little planning would help us all make it smoother running. There are forms available on the day , or click on the following links for a form in either (.doc) or (pdf) format. Very simple, but I'll explain what we need and why. Remember, its not a shop, so don't expect a brand new bag to carry away your purchases in. If you download the (.doc) files you may type in your details in your favourite word processor. After adding your details, print off the forms and hand them in when you register your items for the Kitswap. This makes the whole process much easier for everyone. The forms must have your full name, initials, brief description of item and your chosen price (please either round up or round down your prices to easily added amounts i.e. to the nearest pound or 50p otherwise it slows up the tallying process) The kit/decal sheet or whatever must have your initial and price on it also so we can identify your item and your price list, otherwise we would not know who it belongs to! - seems obvious but sometimes things are accepted in error, without this information, and we end up unable to sell that item! Click here to see a sample (pdf file). We also check all lists against the actual items handed in, again this seems obvious but mistakes can be made on both sides. Overall make it clear and make it simple and we will all enjoy the show even more. Entry Form (pdf file) Example Entry Form (pdf file) For more info email
